Gonzalo Garcia’s transition from knighthood to the church was a significant move that reshaped the Carvajal family. The Carvajal’s primarily operated for the kingdom as knights and Gonzalo’s change of identity from military entrepreneur to pursuing the livelihood of a clergyman left his father disappointed.
